A Rolex’s fluted bezel is a defining feature. The Oyster bezel’s fluting was originally designed to hold the bezel to the case and maintain the watch’s waterproofness. The fluting on the case back, which was also attached to the case for waterproofness using special Rolex processes, was therefore equivalent. Oyster Day-Date 36mm Yellow Gold wrist watch by Rolex.
